I believe that women are taken far to serious today. They play way to big of a role in government and they constantly and consistently are degrading each other, so why would a man even dream of treating us equally? I don't need feminism.
I miss the traditional and patriarchal society we used to live in! You know, think of the 1950's. Scene: Enter Maggie-Sue-something-or-other wearing a checkered hoop skirt with a crisp(and freshly pressed if I might add) white apron carrying a huge turkey. Billy-Bob-junior-something-or-other and Sally-something-or-other are both seated at the small round kitchen table waiting for Billy-Bob-senior-something-or-other to get home from his extremely fulfilling and emotionally strenuous 9-5 job. When he does get home, the first thing he does is reprimand Maggie-Sue, because she's just now bringing out the potatoes, and the gravy and string beans are M.I.A.! Maggie-Sue apologizes immensely and hurries away to rectify the situation before Billy-Bob-Senior gets an ulcer! This was all just a hypothetical situation to describe to you what I miss. I wish that all women had to do was stay at home, do chores, take care of the kids, and cook! I mean I don't think logically that we can handle anything else! I don't need feminism. |
I personally can't get enough of a man speaking on behalf of me! Men and women both have brains stored up in that noggin of ours, and men are obviously physically superior, so why wouldn't a man be intellectually superior to us as well? Women know how to clean and cook, and the rest of our brains just go to senseless gossip and grocery lists! With this in mind, men obviously know whats best for me, and even though I'm sure they're all telepathic and can pick up on my opinion-centered brainwaves, they just always make the better choice, obviously, and just tell people I agree with him, even if I don't... because why wouldn't I? I don't need feminism.
Forget rape being the assaulter's fault! Pfft, I certainly shouldn't have been wearing that short skirt and tube top, even though I liked how they fit and colors were aesthetically pleasing to the eye! On that note, why would I ever want the option to stop the potential conception of that encounter in a pill form, or the form of an abortion? I mean, that man picked me to have his baby; that is a tremendous honor and all women should feel that way. I also personally feel that sexual harassment is all just a misunderstanding. If a man finds you attractive sometimes he just can't hold himself back, and hey, boys will be boys! I don't need feminism.

We All Need Feminism
While some people reading this may agree wholeheartedly, maybe even halfheartedly, and some I may have left you with your mouths gaping wide, and jaw resting on the floor. I find most of the statements above, personally, to be very inaccurate, sexist, and appalling! But some people really believe that a woman should be seen and not heard. Women should stay at home and in the kitchen, because that is their place. WE, women and men, NEED FEMINISM. |
I'll admit that in the United States women have it pretty good. We can vote, we can own things(such as land, cars, homes, etc.), we can get corporate and government offices, we can drive cars, we can wear whatever we want, but I will admit that some of these things do come with a price. We can hold government and corporate offices, but we can't get the same wage as the men, or even sometimes be taken as seriously as the men, because business and government have been for so long something that women have been shunned and turned away from.
We can wear whatever we want, but if it seems to promiscuous or we identify it as 'slutty' we degrade and humiliate her, and if she happens to get sexually assaulted or harassed we don't blame the piggish men of society, but we accommodate and perpetuate the idea of the 'rape culture.' We tell her she was asking for it, she shouldn't have worn such revealing clothing, maybe if you covered yourself, if you hadn't been having fun with your friends, drinking maybe wasn't such a good idea, etc., and we leave women feeling ashamed of themselves, their bodies, their unintended actions, hell if somebody had roofied her drink we would probably go as far as to tell her, "Maybe you should have bought that Date-Rape nail polish that tells you if your drink is spiked." (Real thing, not making it up, check it out) |
These are just some of the injustices that women face in only America. In other countries there are even worse, more horrifying, nauseating, and inconceivable situations. I just recently read an article about how women are treated in China, and it's sickening. According to this article about 13 million abortions take place every year, because of little girls being conceived. This happens because of the "One Child Policy" that gives tax breaks and incentives to only having one child. The problem is, everyone in China wants a boy to carry the family name. This statistic sadly doesn't even cover all the infanticide that happens to those girls whose parents didn't have access to prenatal technology. "This imbalance causes less importance to be placed on women: they must place higher on placement tests to get into universities, are placed less commonly in more prestigious positions, and have less representation in government, among other things." (Click quote to go to article) All of these little girls that got aborted for the mere reason of being a girl is the reason why we all need feminism.
This is coming from the country that is slowly surpassing the United States, and is soon, most likely, to own us. Now, this is only how one other country treats it's women in comparison to us, but if you haven't heard of a girl named Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan, you should definitely look her and her story up, as well as check out her book. She was shot in the head by the Taliban when she openly protested the right for education for girls. She, and those 13 million abortions in China, are the reason why every single one of us needs feminism. We need to be the voice for the girls that aren't aloud to have one. We need to be a voice for the girls that will never have one. We need to be a voice for your daughter, your niece, your mom, your aunt, your grandma, and your best friend. We need feminism for women all over the world that will never know that they are worth more than the child they bear and the food they prepare. We need feminism in order to make the world a better place.
