Abortions. I’m just going to come out with it and say I am 100% pro-choice. I believe that it is every woman’s right to be able to do what they want to, need to, or wish to do to their bodies. It is neither man nor woman’s job to tell one another how to take care of themselves, unless they are deemed unfit to do so for some reason’s declared by a doctor and not a self proclaimed prophet from the street! While other’s may disagree and become enraged, that I, as a HUMAN BEING, think that OTHER HUMAN BEINGS, heaven forbid, should have a say with what goes on with their own bodies, I invite all those who feel this way forward to please respectfully read my opinion and then try and convince me who is really playing God here: me or you?
The first thing that I find disgruntling about the whole debate of abortions and whether or not they should be legal is that the argument against abortions is predominately being made by people who have such a set list of religious beliefs that they don’t remember that the first amendment(along with the sixth and fourteenth), not only guarantee’s our freedom of speech, religion and like two other things everybody always forgets, (freedom of press and the right to peaceful demonstrations in grievances to our government) but we also have our state and religion SEPARATED(as first stated by the one and only Thomas Jefferson in a letter that he wrote to the Danbury Baptists). S-E-P-A-R-A-T-E-D. This, as stated before, means that government policy should not be influenced by any kind of religion, and the government shouldn't make any laws or conduct any kind of policy that is in favor of one or more religions. That being said, if you try and argue with me that your God has told you that abortion is wrong, murder and therefore all must obey your God, stop now. You have the right to believe whatever YOU want and for,YOU, yourself to practice whatever religion YOU so choose. You don’t like abortions and you don’t agree with people having them? THEN DON’T HAVE ONE. Government and religion are ‘separated’ (lol they aren't really) for a reason, and no one should forget that.

Another thing that upsets me about people who make the argument against abortions, is that they say the mother’s who are aborting have all of these options for what they can do if they decide to have the baby. These options, though, are very limited and could possibly be worse for the baby in the long run. Other than actually taking care of the baby yourself, you are left with two options. You have adoption and foster care. If you can find a family that wants to adopt your child and they agree to whatever terms you may have (you may have none at all) then you will quickly have a fix for your predicament. If you can’t find a family that wants to adopt your baby/ you don’t know if you want to give up all your rights as a parent yet, you could choose to give your child up for voluntary placement into foster care; this is where you still have rights as a parent, but you have strict guidelines to follow in order to maintain this form or foster care. If you fail to meet their standards, your rights can revoked at any time and you will have no more rights over your children and placing them in foster care could all end up being for naught. The other option would be for you to completely give your rights away upon your child first entering the system instead of holding some power like the voluntary placement option. While, of course, adoption and the foster system are two great ways to avoid abortion, they aren’t always the best options. Abuse and neglect, as much as we’d like to think that it doesn't happen as much anymore, is still a prominent issue in the world of foster care and as well as adoption. Assuming that you would be willing to give birth to this child and then still give it up, you could possibly be sending it for a fate much worse than death. To live and to never feel loved or wanted at all.
My last (major) qualm that I have for people with opposition to abortion is that they don’t think we, as humans, should be “playing God”. I can totally understand how one might feel that people who are getting abortions are “playing God”. They are in fact choosing whether or not to let a, key word, POTENTIAL baby be born. And as human’s do, we like to associate life with something more than just two people ‘getting it on’. So, what do we do? We like to stick our feelings onto something that we can neither prove nor disprove that he/she/thing/being exists. And I think it’s all fine and mighty to have your religious beliefs and maybe even to take a few of your values from it, as I myself used to be a very religious person. I don’t, however, believe that you should force your religious views onto anyone. Unless someone is actively trying to seek guidance and wants to know about your religion, I really don’t think you should try and convince anyone that your religion is better than another. The reason this matters is because this is one of the main arguments that almost every person who doesn't believe abortions should be legal uses as one of their main points. “It’s murder, so It’s against God and no one should do it.” For those women who aren't religious at all, why would it be fair to keep them from doing something to THEIR BODY if they want too? It wouldn't, and it isn't fair. It’s an argument that is almost as out dated as disco, lol. (Comedic relief at its finest… just kidding and back on topic!) It should be of no one’s priority to make sure that people who aren't of any religious affiliation to follow the same rules as those who maybe are.
To wrap up my little tirade here, I don’t really believe that anyone is “playing God” more than the people who accuse others of doing so. God may talk to many different people and tell them many different things, but I feel the people who are “playing God” the most, are the ones that are filling his mouth full of things he’s never been quoted to say. By telling people that they are going to hell and will be sent there by their almighty God, don’t even know if what they are sentencing you to is even close to what will actually happen, because there is this neat thing about life. No one knows for 100% fact what is going to happen once you kick the bucket. So, remember the next time you try and instill fear into someone thinking of getting an abortion, for their betterment and potentially for the betterment of the child as well, that Hitler used fear as one of his major tactics to oppress and ultimately to slaughter about 6 million Jewish people. Are we sure we want to go down that road again?
