Gay Rights. It's a touchy subject for a lot of people in America. Mostly because being homosexual has been perpetuated as wrong and immoral pretty much since the beginning of time. Ever since whoever wrote that one damn line in the bible, you know the one that says no man should lie with another man, people have been scared into thinking that God hates gay people and wants them to burn eternally in hell. Well, I for one think that it's a load of bullshit and secondly I don't really care that the bible says that particular line, because as I've stated in previous blog posts (here) there is no reason why it really should have any bearing on anything the government does!
There is a clear, or is supposed to be, separation between church and state.(see article here) The bible, used by the christian religion, should therefore not be used to deny gay people their fundamental right of marriage. To not allow them of this right is fairly reminiscent of when we denied African-American's the rights to do everything everyone else was allowed to do! I for one, found it disgusting that we ever denied them rights as people and am even more disgusted that we are still allowing it to go on today to a different variety of people!

Stated here, put into modern English language by Cornell University, are the rights that the 14th amendment guarantee's ALL American citizens. Just not heterosexuals. Every single person that is an American citizen is not supposed to be denied any natural rights. Quote from the ending lines of the first section under Amendment 14, "...nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." It seems pretty clear and simple to me that as of now, gay people's rights are being impeded on by all the states(excluding one's that have passed gay marriage laws) and it isn't right or fair to any of them.
I didn't plan on this being a very long blog, because fundamentally there should be only one solution. STOP DENYING ANY PERSON WITHIN STATE JURISDICTION THE EQUAL PROTECTION OF THE LAWS. By saying that Gay marriage offends you and your religious beliefs would be like the guy in this video. If you watch this and you are like, "Nah, that's not me, but gay people still shouldn't get married because it's not right. blah blah blah." I hope you don't have children and I hope you never reproduce. If you do have children I pray that they don't come out as close-minded and simple like you.
